The Natural Health Wellness Test Key
C
heck your test indicators with the key below for detailed natural health wellness suggestions.IMMUNE SYSTEM
1-3. The immune system is stressed and weakened by many factors today such as stress and tension; toxicity from pollution, chemicals in food, air and water, and accumulated wastes; malnutrition from poor diet and depleted agricultural soils; and challenges from the various types of microorganisms, including Candida yeast and fungi, new strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, and terrible viruses that are very destructive.
Challenges to the immune system can be very serious. Some people have died in battling some of the types of flu circulating these days.
A major part of getting well and/or being well is ridding the body of the many types of parasites and infectious organisms that usually live in the toxic waste. This requires a comprehensive program for purging and controlling invaders.
It is crucial to pay special attention to providing extra support to the immune system
, especially at times of added stress or toxic exposure. Extra oxygen, probiotics, antioxidants, such as turmeric, and foods, herbs and high-quality supplements rich in vitamins, minerals (including ionic trace minerals) and enzymes are recommended.Antioxidants are very important for the immune system, such as Vitamin C, Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPC's) from grape seeds or Maritime pine bark, curcuminoids from turmeric, lignans from flax seeds and also negative-ion hydrogen.
Concentrated plant-derived enzymes and special potent effective types of probiotic supplements (beneficial bacteria) can assist in eradicating invaders. Protease and lipase enzymes break down the coating on viruses.
Special potent effective types of probiotic supplements (beneficial bacteria - for examples L-Salivarius and L Plantarum) battle yeasts, fungi and bad bacteria to restore a better balance in the colon.
Several herbal botanicals are helpful in that regard as well. Oregano oil, clove oil, monolaurin, chaparral larrea, echinacea, goldenseal, garlic, olive leaf and medicinal mushrooms can help fight invading microorganisms. Pumpkin seeds, black walnut hulls and wormwood are used to expel parasites such as worms.
Botanicals such as peppermint oil, fulvic acid-rich ancient plant deposits, pollen concentrate, aloe, spirulina and others rich in chlorophyll, carotenoids and other pigments and phytonutrients, all support immune health. Extra oxygen is important to assist the immune system as well.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
4-6. Running out of breath easily could be more than just "being out of shape". It can be related to a serious condition. You should consult your physician about this if you have not done so.
Having difficulty getting enough breath and/or experiencing a side ache upon modest exertion indicate that there is an oxygen deficiency in your system. There could be benefit in trying stabilized oxygen drops. These are put in water and consumed. They have helped many to breathe easier and have more energy.
If the lungs are inflamed or congested, the soothing herbs, aloe vera, slippery elm or marshmallow can bring relief. If a weakness of heart is involved, hawthorn berries, Coenzyme Q10, or an herbal formula for the heart could help.
ALLERGIES
7-8. Allergies can foster a variety of bothersome symptoms. Often sinus problems are related to allergies, either food allergies or reaction to airborne allergens. Milk products are commonly a contributor.
Dust could be a big part of the problem. When the furnace starts to work in the Fall, it blows dust and mites, microscopic bugs that live in the dust, around the house where people breathe them in. Then, of course, there are pollen allergies in Spring and summer.
The enzyme amylase can be very helpful with allergies. It breaks down carbohydrates and other carbon compounds. Most of the things people are allergic to are carbon compounds, including foods, pollens, dust mites, petrochemical fumes, poison ivy, bee stings, etc. Increasing amylase levels in the body can lessen the responses to these irritating agents.
A multiple enzyme formula taken apart from food will increase key enzymes to perform their various tasks in the body. Amylase may be take on its own if needed.
Certain herbs help lessen congestion in the sinuses and make breathing easier. Chinese Ephedra (also called Ma Huang) is especially helpful here, but there can be problems with overuse, which has led to its distribution being controlled in some states. Its metabolism-stimulating properties which make it popular for weight-loss and alertness, can harm the heart and nerves with extensive use. It can also make one jittery.
Fenugreek and thyme together work to remove mucus from the head area. Aloe Vera juice soothes irritated linings, reducing allergic symptoms. The juice can also be sprayed in the nose for relief of sinus congestion.
Toxins from the bowel, particularly from either putrefied proteins or Candida yeast overgrowth, can also contribute to allergies and sinus inflammation. A thorough bowel cleanse is important.
Flaxseed, cascara sagrada (if needed to stimulate bowel movement), probiotics (especially L. Salivarius and L. Plantarum) and plenty of pure water will accomplish this.
(If there are other signs of possible yeast overgrowth, see the special section on that near the end below.)
CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
For a serious circulatory problem, you should be under a physician's care.
9. Imbalances in blood pressure can sometimes be corrected with a change in diet, nutrition and herbal supplements, plus exercise. For example, garlic is known to lower high blood pressure. An herbal formula may help more.
9-11. Irregularities in the heart rate should not be ignored. See your physician if you have not already done so. Sometimes a chelated or ionic magnesium supplement can make a difference.
9-14. For strengthening the heart overall, Hawthorn berries have been used for centuries. Also, consuming heart tissue concentrate from well-raised beef builds the heart.
10-11. If there is accumulation of plaque in the arteries, chelation treatments to remove plaque by intravenous drip of a safe EDTA solution are administered by some alternative physicians.
If the problem is not that serious, an oral chelation nutritional formula can take care of the matter over time. Chelation is the process of applying a reactive substance that will attach to another. In this case the purpose is to draw out the unwanted plaque.
Plaque is usually deposited as a result of free radical damage to the arteries. A free radical is a molecule missing an electron that seeks one from any other molecule. As it rips one out, it damages tissue and creates another free radical, starting a new round of damage and so on.
When arterial tissue is damaged in this process, the sticky substance, fibrin, is deposited at the wound site, just as it forms in an external cut to stop the bleeding. This sticky protein attracts other substance such as cholesterol, calcium, and heavy metals that may by present in the blood. Cholesterol is also sticky. As layers of these substances accumulate, the plaque gradually "hardens" the arteries, blocking blood flow more and more.
Chelating agents such as vitamin C and enzymes bond to bits of the plaque and remove it. For example, the enzyme protease breaks down proteins such as the fibrin. The enzyme lipase breaks down fats such as cholesterol. These enzymes can go out in the bloodstream to work when taken separately from food, which they would otherwise work on.
Antioxidants are also important to scavenge free radicals, as well as nutrients to promote healing of the wound sites. There are good oral chelation formulas available designed for cleaning and supporting the circulatory system, and reducing damage from free radicals.
Cholesterol arises not only from animal-source fats in the diet; the liver can make as much or more of it as you could eat. Although it is sensible to eat more lightly of heavy meats and dairy products, the answer is not to consume margarine. It is a highly refined product that effects the body like you had eaten plastic. Margarine may actually contribute to increased arterial plaque. The body can handle a moderate amount of butter much more easily.
A gall bladder flush with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon juice helps clear the gall bladder of cholesterol "gall stones" and improves fat metabolism. (See "Gall Bladder Flush" description near the end below.)
Flaxseed, cereal bran and psyllium hulls are fiber foods that can help lower cholesterol and tryiglycerides in many cases. Some people use chitosan, a fiber from shellfish that attracts fats in the digestive tract.
EXTREMITIES
14. Cold extremities can be due to deficiencies or imbalances in either the thyroid, the pancreas or in circulation. Herbal and nutritional supplements that can help: kelp and/or black walnut, and guggal for the thyroid; multiple enzymes, green foods, and dandelion, for the pancreas; and for circulation, enzymes as well, especially protease and lipase, taken apart from food when used for metabolic work out in the body, and also the herb capsicum.
15. Fluid retention may be due to excess proteins and other toxins, including salt, rather than a kidney problem. Herbal diuretics may help. Foods like bananas and green super foods rich in potassium or a good mineral supplement should be used with any diuretic. If a weak heart is involved, hawthorn berries and heart tissue from well-raised beef may help.
16. Strange sensations in the extremities may be from mineral deficiencies or a nerve problem. Chelated and ionic mineral supplementation could help. DHA, a fatty acid which improves brain and nerve function, is found in certain ocean fish such as salmon, mackeral, cod & sardines, as well as in certain edible algae. DHA can be derived from ALA, an Essential Fatty Acid gotten from consuming milled flax seed or the oil. It may be a good idea to see a chiropractor if supplementation does not correct this.
NERVES and BRAIN
17-23. Nervousness, tension, anxiety, depression and irritability build when the nervous system is stressed beyond its ability to cope. This can also effect thinking and concentration. With good nutrition you would be better able to handle stress.
CBD from cannabis has been found to be an outstanding natural remedy for the brain and nervous system. Cannabinoid compounds have benefited humans for centuries. CBD has become very popular for enhancing mood as well as reducing inflammation.
There are also minerals (magnesium, calcium), B vitamins, the Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid, ALA (and its derivative DHA); herbs (eg., valerian root, passion flower), essential herbal oils (eg., lavender, patchouly) and hormones (melatonin and DHEA), that all help to calm the nerves, relax tension and counteract depression. Excess yeast can cause tension. (If there are other signs of possible yeast overgrowth, see the special section.)
21. Depression is frequently from a biochemical imbalance. Most pharmaceuticals have side effects, some serious. It might be better to try natural methods first. Increased amino acids and better protein digestion; chelated magnesium and ionic trace minerals; the hormones melatonin, DHEA and progesterone; the Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid, ALA (and especially its derivative DHA), and Coenzyme Q10; all can help combat depression. It can also be yeast-related, in which case a comprehensive yeast control program can take care of it. (If there are other signs of possible yeast overgrowth, see the special section.)
24-25. Memory or concentration problems can be due to nutritional deficiencies, yeast overgrowth, or aluminum toxicity. The Omega 3 fatty acid, DHA or milled flax seed with its Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid, ALA (from which DHA is derived), Ginkgo Biloba, lecithin (a source of phosphatidyl choline), overall nutrition (esp. improved protein digestion and/or supplementation with amino acids), and extra oxygen all help. Avoid aluminum cookware and aluminum-containing anti-perspirant deodorants.
COMMON PROBLEMS
26-27. More than normal tiredness can be yeast or low-blood sugar related. Those problems must be addressed. Improved nutrition and better digestion would help a lot. There are some good supplements for energy.
Coenzyme Q10, extra oxygen, ginseng and cordyceps each can help to increase energy. There are more stimulating herbs such as guarana and kola nut that boost energy while not creating the jitters as ephedra sometimes does. Ephedra has been the subject of controversy as some can have abnormal heart reactions, plus it has been used to make a form of speed as a street drug.
Try snacking on sunflower seeds and nuts, protein-rich foods, rather than carbohydrates
(If there are other signs of possible yeast overgrowth, see the special section on that near the end below.)
28, 30. Dizziness and lightheadedness can also be associated with yeast overgrowth and/or low blood sugar. Avoid sugar and sweets which send sugar levels on a roller-coaster ride. Licorice root helps to stabilize blood sugar and strengthens the adrenal glands.
If poor circulation is suspected as a cause, a multiple enzyme taken apart from food will help clean the arteries; hawthorn berries, capsicum (cayenne), Coenzyme Q10 and a good mineral profile, including magnesium, along with walking exercise, can help to strengthen the heart.
29. Headaches are also frequently from a biochemical imbalance. Increased amino acids properly delivered, chelated magnesium, ionic trace minerals, and progesterone; can help with headaches sometimes.
The herb ferverfew has helped many people. So can certain herbal essential oils applied topically, such as eucalyptus, lavendar, peppermint or camphor.
Extra oxygen and/or Coenzyme Q10 will often bring quick relief.
Finding a specific homeopathic remedy for the type of headache may take care of it.
31. If eating helps overcome certain symptoms, especially tiredness, weakness, dizziness, depression, headaches or irritability, it could be a sign of low blood sugar tendency, which could also be related to excess yeast in the body. Avoid sugar altogether and eat protein food snacks. Licorice root would be good to try for stabilizing blood sugar.
32-36. There are indications of possible yeast overgrowth and related low blood sugar. Try to control seeking sugar and other stimulating foods and snacks while working on a comprehensive yeast control program. (See the special section on yeast overgrowth near the end of this report.)
WEIGHT PROBLEMS
37-40. Overweight problems are related to several factors: eating more than your metabolism and physical activity can burn off, or types of foods that your body type doesn't handle well; too little exercise; glandular inefficiencies; poor childhood dietary habits; cravings due to poor nutrition, yeast overgrowth or parasites; and imbalance in the "weight thermostat", possibly from dieting.
A "gall bladder flush" with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon juice is a good starting point for a weight-loss program. This helps clear the gallbladder of cholesterol "gall stones" and improves fat metabolism. (See "Gall Bladder Flush" near the end of this report.)
There are several good herbal-based products that can assist in losing and controlling weight. Garcinia cambogia, high in HCA (hydroxycitric acid) helps reduce appetite and retards the conversion of carbohydrates to fat; gymnema sylvestre slows absorption of sugars. Chitosan is a fiber from shellfish that attracts fats in the digestive tract, keeping them from going to fat in the body.
Milled flax seed can also perform this function, while providing highly utilizable needed nutrients.
The thyroid could be involved. If your energy is low and/or hands and feet tend to be cold, a formula that supports the thyroid will support metabolism and the BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). The ingredients to look for include: the herb guggal, phosphates, phosphatidyl choline, and the amino acid L-tyrosine. These will help to increase metabolism, burn fat and give you more energy.
There are "thermogenic" herbs such as guarana, ephedra and kola nut, that stimulate metabolism, burn off some fat, and boost energy, but these should not be overdone. Many people are made nervous and jittery by stimulants such as these, especially ephedra which has caused heart palpitations in some.
HGH (Human Growth Hormone) releasers, especially in conjunction with exercise, can help the body get rid of some flab and tone up. In young people whose levels of HGH are naturally high, a slimmer body is easier to maintain.
As we grow older, lower HGH levels make us more susceptible to accumulating fat. HGH production can be stimulated by a nutritional formula specifically designed to promote release of it from the pituitary gland. Ingredients that enhance uptake at the body's receptor sites will give better results.
Sometimes excess weight is partly from fluid retention in the body. Further, as pounds are being shed, toxins are expelled. Be sure to consume a lot of purified water, and use an herbal diuretic if needed.
Good supplemental nutrition is important during any weight-loss process, and especially potassium if a diuretic is being used.
The enzyme lipase is for breaking down fats, and when extra amounts are taken in between meals, it can clear stored fat. The lipase should be taken away from meals to go out and do its work in the body.
41-43. Underweight conditions not related to illness can be addressed best by: consuming a variety of good quality foods, including avocadoes, bananas and top quality protein foods; making sure of good digestion; and muscle-building exercises. If there is any possibility that you might have an eating disorder, seek out appropriate help.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
44-54. Digestive efficiency needs to be increased and movement of material through the bowel improved. A complete plant-derived multiple enzyme formula with a broad range of effectiveness across the pH (acid/alkaline) scale is crucial to improving digestion.
At a minimum, the enzyme formula should include protease for digesting protein, amylase for carbohydrates, lipase for fats, and lactase for milk sugars.
Even better if other enzymes are included such as sucrase for sugars, maltase for malt sugars and cellulase for plant fibers. Cellulase also improves cellular nutrition by helping move nutrients in and toxins out through the cell membranes.
High quality plant fiber such as milled organic flax seed, and herbs like cascara sagrada that incite peristaltic action (bowel movement) are needed. Cat's claw is known for its ability to clean the bowel, and to reduce inflammations of the digestive tract.
Potent strains of beneficial probiotic bacteria such as L. Acidophilus, L. Bifidus and especially L. Salivarius and L. Plantarum should be introduced as well.
4 pints or more of purified water should be consumed per day. Eat well, consuming simple foods and combinations.
55-56. Sticky anal residue and/or light colored, floating stools, can indicate a problem in breaking down fats. In addition to a gall bladder flush with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lemon juice (see description near end of report), to clear the gall bladder of cholesterol gall stones and improve fat metabolism, taking the enzyme lipase both at and in between meals will help fat metabolism as well.
Almost everyone has excess toxicity in the colon. Cleansing it is the first priority of health improvement.
The best food with outstanding fiber for bowel elimination is organic milled flax seeds. The mucilagenous quality, with equal amounts of soluble and insoluble fiber totaling 26%, is ideal for the intestinal lining. Flax seeds are very nutritious with Omega 3 source fatty acid,
usually deficient in the modern diet. It also has antioxidants and minerals, providing benefits in other ways.Psyllium seeds and hulls are commonly used as bowel cleansing fiber. However, because psyllium is imported, it may have been treated with mandated chemical fumigation or radiation.
Wheat bran is common and cheap, but too harsh on the intestinal lining for routine consumption. Oat bran and rice bran provide a little better fiber and some antioxidants.
Digestive enzymes and plenty of pure water will help the colon function better. When needed for stimulating elimination, cascara sagrada and senna are traditional favorites that move the bowel well.
57. Fiber is essential to healthy intestinal function. If you have been told that you cannot handle fiber, and therefore to avoid salads and other raw vegetables, whole wheat bread, etc.; consider trying milled flax seed as an adjunct to the diet. Its gentle mucilagenous fiber is very soothing to the intestinal lining. Flax brooms out waste and provides an amazing array of valuable nutrients with various benefits.
Also it would be good to introduce the friendly probiotic intestinal bacteria, especially L. Salivarius and L. Plantarum, which help clean up waste deposits, improve elimination, and fight unhealthy microorganisms.
Getting the digestive system to function well is one of the most basic and important things to do in restoring and maintaining good health.
MINERAL DEFICIENCY
58-60. You have indications of probable significant mineral deficiency. This can arise due to inadequate diet and over consumption of soda pop and other acid-forming foods such as coffee, meats and wheat flour products. For starters, try to eliminate the offending foods just mentioned.
Well-chelated minerals, including especially calcium, magnesium and zinc, are very important. Chelation of minerals with amino acids is best. Also be sure you are eating and digesting high quality protein. Enzyme supplementation will help derive more amino acids and minerals from the foods you eat. Supplementation with fulvic acid-rich plant materials and other superior super foods will provide needed ionic trace minerals and many other valuable nutrients.
DENTAL PROBLEMS
61. Dental caries are usually from a mineral deficiency, particularly calcium, and/or from the deterioration due to bacteria working on food residues left on the teeth. An overly acid environment in the mouth is more conducive to the proliferation of these bacteria.
An alkalizing antioxidant dentifrice is more effective than those containing fluoride at preventing decay. A few drops of stabilized liquid oxygen in aloe vera juice makes a great consumable mouthwash. A drop or two of peppermint and/or clove oil in the mouth serves as an antiseptic also.
62. Silver fillings contain the toxic metal mercury, which can slowly leach into the system and create a variety of health problems. It is thought to be involved in lowered immune resistance and chronic fatigue, and may be a factor in Multiple Sclerosis and other debilitating conditions. Seek out a superior dentist who has experience in very carefully replacing silver fillings with "porcelain" composite material.
62-63. Antioxidants, particularly Vitamin C and bioflavonoids, ionic minerals, the highest quality of usable calcium, and frequent dental/oral care with an alkalizing antioxidant tooth paste or powder, can help the gums and the teeth. A few drops of stabilized liquid oxygen in aloe vera juice makes a great consumable mouthwash. A drop or two of peppermint and/or clove oil in the mouth serves as an antiseptic also.
64-66. Jaw popping, irregular bite, or the tendency to chew more on one side of the mouth can indicate Tempero Mandibular Joint (TMJ) problems. Consult a dental expert, especially if there is jaw pain.
URINARY SYSTEM
67-69. Horsetail, alfalfa, parsley, uva ursi, watermelon, marshmallow root and cranberry juice all assist with urinary functions, and can help with other problems. Drink purified water in small quantities throughout the day, totaling about 1/2 gallon. Avoid consuming too much liquid at once.
Horsetail is the richest herb in the important mineral silica, which is needed by all body cells, and is especially good for the skin, hair and nails; and alfalfa is one of the richest herbs in minerals. (NOTE: Avoid genetically modified alfalfa hay.) Parsley and uva ursi are diuretic, stimulating the movement of urine. Marshmallow root is known for soothing an inflamed bladder, and cranberry juice helps the bladder also.
These herbs are complementary to those for the liver, as cleansing the body puts extra stress on the urinary organs.
Men with prostate issues may find help in herbal formulas including saw palmetto, stinging nettles, pumpkin seeds and ginseng, as well as from increased chelated zinc and selenium, fulvic acid ionic minerals, and pollen extract.
Kidney stones can be dissolved by consuming fresh-squeezed lemon juice, which can be moderately diluted for taste with pure water. Drinking lemon water is a good preventive practice with multiple benefits.
OTHER PROBLEMS
70. Supplementation with complete protein, enzymes to improve digestion, and mineral-rich super foods, along with muscle-building exercise, will gradually strengthen muscles. Yeast overgrowth could be a factor, in which case, a yeast control program with chelated magnesium supplementation would be the place to start.
71. Supplemental ionic or chelated magnesium can help with sleep. Melatonin, a natural hormone, is a great help. Also beneficial is getting adequate protein delivered to the brain and nerves at the right time. This is improved with enzyme supplementation for better digestion, and high quality protein-rich foods.
More of the Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid, ALA, best gotten from organic milled flax seed, will also help you sleep better.
72. "Bad breath" is usually a reflection of excessive intestinal toxins or dental decay. A thorough bowel cleanse using milled flax seed, the herb cascara sagrada, and the probiotic bacteria L. Acidophilus, L. Bifidus, L. Salivarius and L. Plantarum, would be a good start.
Good oral hygiene is needed too, as bacteria in the mouth may be causing the problem. Lingering infection from a root canal can flare up in the jaw and foster other infections and ill health. Sometimes it is better to have the tooth with a root canal carefully extracted.
A few drops of stabilized liquid oxygen supplement in a small amount of aloe vera juice as a consumable mouthwash makes a great natural freshener, as does a drop or two of peppermint and/or clove oil in the mouth.
73. Hyperactivity is often related to consumption of sugar and white flour foods, coffee and other caffeinated beverages, and soda pop. If these are out of the picture and you are still hyperactive, inadequate proteins for the nerves may be involved. Try supporting the nervous system with improved protein delivery through supplementation with enzymes and complete protein sources; and with the Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid, ALA, from milled organic flax seed.
Beyond that, you might consult an allergist to look into possible allergies. There could be problems with artificial food additives.
FEMALE CONDITIONS
74. a) PMS symptoms are lessened with good nutrition. There are herbs which can help alleviate PMS as well, including dong quai, damiana, red raspberry leaf and false unicorn. Progesterone cream with wild yam can help balance the hormones. Excessive PMS can be related to Candida yeast problems. (If there are other signs of possible yeast overgrowth, see the special section near the end of this report.)
b) Good nutrition and certain herbs, including dong quai, damiana, red raspberry leaf and false unicorn, help reduce menopausal symptoms. Progesterone cream with wild yam, as well as the "master hormone" DHEA (out of which others are formed), have helped many women. Extreme tiredness or irritability can be related to yeast problems. (If there are other signs of possible yeast overgrowth, see the special section near the end of this report.)
75. Vaginal yeast problems are usually the "tip of the iceberg", indicating wider yeast problems. See the special section on yeast overgrowth near the end of this report.
76. Breast lumps or swelling may or may not be serious. It is wise to have a check up to see what is going on. Avoid underarm antiperspirant deodorants with aluminum chlorohydrate and other chemicals, which may be toxifying. There are natural alternatives, such as baking soda, and herbal and mineral deodorants.
77. a) If you have given birth to children, you could be more susceptible to an overgrowth of yeast in the body. If there are other signs of it, please read the special section on yeast overgrowth near the end of this report.
b) If you are pregnant or nursing, you should avoid most herbal programs, such as detoxifying. There are other things that can be helpful besides a high quality food source multiple vitamin/mineral supplement. Red raspberry leaves help strengthen the uterus, both in preparation for delivery and after. Enzymes help digestion. Super foods and fulvic acids provide needed trace nutrients. High quality protein is valuable, but there is no need for excessive amounts.
A pregnant and nursing woman should consider eating milled organic flax seed. Its gentle mucilagenous fiber eases bowel elimination without being a laxative. It will help keep the bowel moving, as well as provide highly utilizable complete protein and the crucial Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid, ALA (Alpha Linoleic Acid). This is needed for the baby's brain and nerve development, and also helps maintain your own nervous system to be calmer under stress and more sharp-minded.
SEXUAL PERFORMANCE
78-79. Many people could use help in the area of sexual performance, both men and women. In addition to reading some good literature on the subject, several herbs and nutrients are often helpful for those of either sex: dehydrated oat grass juice (avena sativa), yohimbe, flower pollen extract, Siberian ginseng, horny goatweed, ginkgo biloba, damiana, sarsaparilla, saw palmetto; adequate intake of the mineral zinc (15 mg. per day) is important too.
Pheromones are natural chemical signals that the body produces to attract others. Scientists are well aware of their power in animal mating. Now it is known that they have effects in human behavior with both romantic attraction and in social interaction.
Pheromone production in humans is generally less than it used to be. Further, it decreases after age 30. A good pheromone product (applied topically) can bring improvement in both the areas of romance, and the persuasive and motivational professions, such as sales.
Also, panax ginseng for men and dong quai for women, are good for reducing problems and improving performance. The hormonal substance, androstendione, also used for body-building, is known for sustained male performance as well. This is available off the shelf, but it should not be overdone, especially if there is a heart condition.
EYES
80. Ruptured blood vessels in the eyes and visible under the skin are indications of capillary weakness from a possible deficiency in bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids are abundant in fruits, especially citrus, grapes and berries. A good vitamin C supplement should include an equal amount of bioflavonoids, including rutin and hesperidin. OPC's from grape seeds and/or maritime pine bark, contain excellent antioxidant flavonoids that are known to strengthen capillaries. Antioxidant greens and other super foods and fulvic acid rich ancient plant deposits contain an abundance of phytonutrients and minerals that can be helpful.
81. Beta carotene, as found in carrots, most edible algae, such as spirulina, and in yams and other red and orange foods, may reduce oversensitivity of the eyes, as well as improving night vision.
Better nutrition in general helps the eyes. An eyebright herbal formula for eyewash and ingesting is good. DHA is an Omega 3 fatty acid good for the eyes and the brain. It is in some ocean fish such as sardines, mackeral, cod & salmon. There is also a DHA supplement made from algae. The body can derive DHA from the Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid, ALA, found most highly in milled organic flax seed from the far north in Canada.
SKIN PROBLEMS
82-84. Easy bruising and/or slow healing of cuts and bruises could indicate a mineral deficiency, dehydration, or possibly a deficiency in vitamin K and/or in bioflavonoids.
Improved mineral intake is important, especially silica, zinc and sub-colloidal ionic trace minerals.
Vitamin K is found in alfalfa, leafy greens, and algaes such as spirulina and kelp. Bioflavonoids are abundant in fruits, especially citrus, grapes and berries. A good vitamin C supplement should include an equal amount of bioflavonoids, including rutin and hesperidin.
OPC's from grape seeds and/or maritime pine bark, contain excellent antioxidant flavonoids that are known to strengthen capillaries, reduce bruising and speed healing of cuts.
A mineral supplement with fulvic acid from decayed plant deposits delivers a spectrum of phytonutrients and minerals that can be helpful. Aloe vera gel, an herbal skin cream and various essential oils, can speed relief of irritations, cuts and bruises when applied topically. High quality protein and good digestion of it are important for skin repair.
Tocotrienols are super antioxidants, 100's of times more effective than vitamins C or E. Tocotrienols are relatives of the "tocopherols" of vitamin E. They are found most abundantly in rice bran. A supplement providing tocotrienols is greatly helpful in healing damaged tissue.
The enzyme amylase helps with acne and other swelling inflammations of the skin.
Moisture is crucial for the health of the skin. Most people are significantly dehydrated. About two quarts of purified water should be consumed daily.
85. Dry hair, skin and nails and dry mouth are all major signs of dehydration. Few people drink an adequate amount of water. Coffee, tea, milk and soda pop are not substitutes for pure water. In fact, coffee and soda pop are both acidifying and dehydrating. An increased water intake is needed to compensate for them. One should drink a minimum of 6 to 8 glasses of purified water per day. Raw tap water is unacceptable due to the level of pollutants in it. The chemicals added to city water make it fit only for work tasks such as washing the floor, without purifying treatment.
Showering in unfiltered chlorinated water is very harmful to the skin and hair, as well as the lungs because of the chorine vapors. A shower filter is so inexpensive that every home shower should have one.
Dry hair, skin problems and brittle or misshapen nails are also a possible indicator of Candida yeast overgrowth. (If there are other signs of possible yeast overgrowth, see the special section.)
Find an herbal moisturizer without toxifying propylene glycol. Glycerin, although non-toxic, is dehydrating.
BLOOD and LIVER
82-84. Skin problems are often a reflection of toxic blood. Blood-purifying herbs such as alfalfa, dandelion, Oregon grape, peach bark, sarsaparilla root, yellow dock and Pau D'arco are useful.
The liver is the body’s detoxifying agent. It is overwhelmed in most of us with the load of toxins coming from the colon and chemicals in the diet and environment, all of which the liver is supposed to screen. Once it becomes saturated, it cannot hold anymore so it has to let these toxins pass on into the blood. Help out this tired, toxic liver with the cleansing and support that herbs can provide. Milk thistle, dandelion root and beet root are very beneficial.
LIFESTYLE PROBLEMS
86-88. By now you certainly know the consequences of smoking. Desire & motivation to quit is yours to develop. You can begin by cutting down, then gradually wean yourself. Others have achieved success by stopping cold turkey. Some use aids like nicotine gum or the patch. Hypnosis has helped many. If you want to, do whatever it takes to quit.
89. Coffee is a widely popular beverage. It does have some antioxidant benefits, but should be used moderately. Over consumption of caffeine stresses the nerves and the adrenal glands. It can make one anxious and irritable. Even decaffeinated coffee still has some remaining caffeine. Although mental energy is stimulated with caffeine, repeatedly using it rather than getting good rest is detrimental to health.
Coffee has other compounds in it that toxify the liver and the blood. Too much is acidifying to the body, which can lead to ill health conditions including infections and tumors. Further, excessive coffee is irritating to the digestive tract. Aloe vera is helpful for that. There are herbal alternatives to coffee that can be explored.
90-91. Alcohol is a problem for all too many people. Consuming it destroys cells, including the brain, at the least. Beyond that, many lives have been harmed and lost due to alcohol. At most, restrict consumption to just a few drinks per week.
Consuming wine does not provide as much health benefit as the industry promotes. The wine is nowhere near as rich in OPCs as the grape seeds.
NEVER drive after consuming enough alcohol to affect your judgment and abilities.
WATER
92-93. One should consume a minimum of 40 to 64 ounces (2 quarts) of purified water per day. Raw tap water is unacceptable due to the level of pollutants in it. The chemicals added to city water make it fit only for work tasks such as washing the floor, without purifying treatment. Home water purification for both drinking and showering/bathing are affordable and essential.
FOOD CHOICES
Poor Selections
94. Soda pop is a chemical cocktail with no value beyond taste, and with plenty of harm. Drinking just 12 oz. of soda pop does such a dehydrating number on the body that it takes 30 glasses of pure water to compensate. Diet pop is worse, especially if it contains aspartame, as most do. Try sparing enjoyment of sparkling water or club soda with lemon or lime added. The primary daily drink should be purified water, perhaps with some fresh lemon juice added.
95. Sweet treats can create sour problems if overdone. Most parents and teachers know that children's behavior worsens after sugar consumption. There have been studies on the probable connection between sugar intake and some crimes. If one's blood sugar metabolism gets out of balance, it could mean a lot of unpleasantness for a long time. Self-induced diabetes is alarmingly widespread. Try to restrict sweets to parties and holidays. Dessert should not be part of a meal. Fresh fruits are the real natural sweet foods to meet the taste for sweet.
96. NutraSweet (tm), also known as Aspartame (tm), can mess up brain chemistry. Some people have had serious headaches, mental disorders, and behavioral problems.
Raw Food
97. Raw food is the natural choice. That is how nature provides food for us. When grown right on good soil and eaten fresh, raw fruits and vegetables contain enzymes, minerals, vitamins, amino acids, most everything the body needs to perform. They are enzymatically alive. As soon as you cook something, the enzymes are destroyed, mineral and amino acid bonds broken, and you have a lifeless corpse for food. There are no substitutes for the benefits of regular consumption of an abundance of fresh raw fruits and vegetables.
Milk & Dairy Products
98-99. Despite what the milk producers like us to think, cow's milk is not very good for humans. It's natural purpose is for supporting the growth a young animal that may eventually weigh close to a ton! Most humans do not digest milk and its products well.
Many are allergic to dairy products. Some can't handle the casein protein. Others are intolerant to lactose (milk sugar), as they are unable to digest it. Taking lactase enzyme helps with lactose, and protease and lipase help digest the protein and fat in dairy items.
Milk is a highly produced food today. From the antibiotics, steroids and genetically modified, glyphosate-laden feed given to the livestock, to pasteurizing (cooking to kill bacteria which also destroys enzymes) and homogenizing (dispersing the fat into tiny indigestible globules), the milk sold in stores is little nutritious, and potentially harmful.
Autopsies performed on young men killed in the Korean War showed detectable arterial plaque in over 60% of those 18 to 22 years old. Similar studies done during the Viet Nam War showed the percentage had increased to over 90%. The major contributing factors are thought to be mass consumption of chlorinated tap water and homogenized milk.
Although cheese, yogurt and other dairy items may not be homogenized, they do add to the common problem of mucus accumulation in the body. Most people eat an over amount of acid-forming, mucus inducing foods. This results in a physical condition which is unhealthy and more susceptible to illness, from colds and infections, to degenerative diseases.
If using dairy, organic whole milk products from free-range pasture-fed cattle are the best choice.
Meat & Protein
100-101. The heavy use of meat in the common diet stems from faulty research at the beginning of the 20th Century. Researchers determined the needs of dogs of various sizes for animal protein, and extrapolated the findings as a guideline for humans. But dogs are quite different in their needs.
Too much cooked animal protein is very harmful to human health in the long run. It is hard to digest, and contributes to "caramelization" (gummy residues that impair tissues) in the body.
As meat waits to be digested, it putrefies in the body, creating toxins that are harmful in multiple ways. Some are free radicals which damage tissue, leading to circulatory disease and possibly cancer.
Dead meat is also a breeding ground for infectious microorganisms. There may also be parasites in the meat. Further, meats and dairy products are acid-forming. Multiplying invaders and the acid conditions hospitable to them, can bring on a variety of illnesses.
Livestock today is often fed antibiotics, growth hormones, genetically modified corn or soy as part of the rapid profit methods of feed lot management. The animals are often more stressed from living in close quarters. Glyphosate herbicide is used on crops for weed control and harvesting, leaving toxic residues in the feed.
Despite the continuing high level of protein consumption in our population, many suffer from protein deficiency because they are not adequately digesting the cooked animal tissue, eggs and/or dairy products. Multiple enzymes, including protease for protein, should be taken when eating any cooked proteins.
Eggs are a good protein source, especially if not overcooked. Soft boiling or steaming just enough to whiten the clear part of the egg is best. Avoid "factory farm" eggs from stressed, less healthy chickens, which have likely been fed GMOs, feed contaminated with glyphosate or other chemicals, antibiotics and other drugs. Organic eggs from well-fed, free-range hens are greatly superior.
All foods have some amount of protein in them -- whole grains, beans, nuts and seeds are plant sources of more easily digestible, high quality protein without the problems of cooked animal-source proteins. Flax seeds, amaranth, buckwheat and quinoa are better choices than the grains, wheat, barley, rye, oats, rice, corn, etc.
Many are realizing they do better without gluten in their diet. Take plant-source enzymes (which work throughout the varying pH range found in the digestive tract) when eating any cooked food, to ensure good digestion.
102. The lowest grade and most toxic meats are weiners, sausages and lunch meats. The odds and ends of the slaughterhouse are thrown into these. Normally the wrapping on sausage is the intestine of an animal. Unless organic, these meat products should be avoided entirely.
Flour Products
103-104. White flour products are poor quality food. The four major commercial interests in producing a food product are: taste, appearance, shelf-life and cost. Notice that the long-term health of the consumer is not one of their concerns. In the case of bread, they want you to be happy with the freshness, to be able to identify the packaging, and they want it to be profitable for them.
White flour has been stripped of its nutritive value in milling out the germ and bran from the grain. Synthetic vitamins of low quality (which are not good for you) have been added back to white flour for many years, so they call it "enriched". White flour consumption can bring on diabetes just as sugar can.
Also, white flour products are very gooey. White flour is used as paste by school children, and can be used to make objects that harden into a cement-like state. It can lead to sticky hardened residues in the colon tract.
Even most of the brown breads in the supermarket are not healthful. Often they are made of a mixture of white flour and whole wheat. The producer's concern about shelf-life often leads them to chlorinate or bromate the flour to prevent spoiling. Additional toxins may include dough conditioners (for soft fluffy texture), coloring agents and preservatives.
High-fiber, whole grain bread is much better. The best is fresh-milled and baked at home with organic non-wheat flour and other wholesome ingredients. Gluten, a sticky compound in most grains, is an allergy problem for many people.
Learn to enjoy other seed foods such as quinoa, amaranth, buckwheat and flax. Among the grains, millet, barley, spelt and brown rice are the better choices. Whole seeds and grains have valuable natural proteins, other nutrients and fiber that are missing from white flour products and white rice.
Soybeans
105. Many have turned to soybean products, especially soy "milk", as alternatives to meats and dairy products. Research suggests that there also may be problems with over consumption of soy. Soybeans contain phytoestrogens that may contribute over time to hormonal disturbances and even cancer.
Also, most of the world's supply of soybeans is now from genetically-altered crops contaminated with glyphosate herbicide, which are causing health problems.
Rice "milk" is a better choice as an alternative to dairy milk. A variety of nuts, seeds and whole grains and other legumes (beans) than soybeans will provide good protein.
Food Combining & Digestion
106. The more complex a meal one eats, the greater the difficulty in digesting it, and the more likely that there will be spoilage of undigested residues, contributing to toxicity.
Try to eat simple meals with just one major meal of concentrated protein per day. Heavy carbohydrates should be at a separate meal. Either of these can be eaten with vegetables. Fruits should be eaten separately from other foods.
107. Drinking anything but a few sips of water with a meal interferes with the digestive juices and breeds trouble. Coffee, tea, milk and soda pop, each significantly detracts from digestion.
Other Poor Food Products
108. Commercial table salt has added chemicals that are unhealthy. Too much salt, even "seasalt" creates a problem. Excessive consumption of salt OR potassium-based salt substitutes, can throw off the balance of sodium and potassium which regulates transmission of fluids through the membranes of cells. Himalayan crystal salt from Asia or Celtic salt from England have a wide mineral profile and health benefits if used moderately.
109. Junk food snacks are not worth the money, or the drag they put on good health. There are lots of low-cost, good-tasting healthy snacks.
Meals
110. Breakfast is the most important meal. Your body has just gone through many hours of fasting, cleansing and repair, and is ready for it's nutritional stores to be replenished for the day. An abundant variety of nutrients and super foods in an easily digested matrix should be included.
Recommendation: Make a blender drink with some fresh apple or other fruits, vitamins, minerals (including sub-colloidal ionic trace minerals), enzymes, greens and other super foods, such as algae and grasses, plus other special nutritious ingredients like lecithin or Coenzyme Q10. This makes a tremendously uplifting start to the day. On the other hand, coffee and a sweet pastry gives false energy and leads to trouble.
For breakfast, the seeds quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth, flax seeds are much better than the common cereal grains wheat, oats, rice and corn. Organic free-range eggs are also good for breakfast.
111. The active person should have sustenance at regular intervals through the day. The three meal format is a convention, but works well if appropriate foods and amounts are consumed. Some people do better having four to six small meals or good quality snacks, such as apples, raisins, nuts or raw sunflower seeds. The more small and simple the meal, the easier it is to digest. Skipping meals can lead to metabolic imbalances such as blood sugar problems. Snacks can be small meals or just a little treat. The important thing is to avoid nutrient-empty junk foods and sweets as much as possible, and to not let snacking become a food disorder.
112. Eating late in the evening is a very poor health habit. The demand on the digestive system to perform when it should be going into its long rest period means that it doesn't get the rest it needs. Eventually digestion will work less and less effectively, leading to problems. A fresh fruit snack in mid-evening is light and quickly digested. Anything heavier will delay the system's needed rest.
Vegetarian Alternative
113. Many who become vegetarian are concerned about obtaining enough protein and vitamin B-12. "Lacto-vegetarians" (who consume dairy products) and "ovo-vegetarians" (who consume eggs) rely on non-flesh animal-source foods to provide these needed nutrients.
However, most humans do not digest milk and its products well. Many are allergic to dairy products. Dairy products are acid-forming. Acid conditions can foster a variety of illnesses. Also, cheese, yogurt and other dairy items may add to the common problem of mucus accumulation in the body.
Most people eat an over amount of acid-forming, mucus-inducing foods. This results in a physical condition which is unhealthy and more susceptible to illness, from colds and infections, to degenerative diseases.
Eggs are a good protein source, especially if not overcooked. Soft boiling or steaming just enough to whiten the clear part of the egg is best. Despite the continuing high level of protein consumption in our population, many suffer from protein deficiency because they are not adequately digesting the cooked animal tissues, eggs and/or dairy products.
Some vegetarians choose to eat only from plant sources. All foods have some amount of protein in them. Nuts, seeds, whole grains and beans are plant sources of more easily digestible, high quality protein without the problems of cooked animal-source proteins.
It is not necessary to be concerned about complementary protein combinations to achieve all the essential amino acids in each meal. As long as a variety of protein foods is consumed regularly, with good digestion you will get enough of the essentials. Take enzymes when eating eggs, dairy-products, or any cooked food, to ensure maximum digestion.
Microwave Caution
114. There is substantial evidence that micro-waved food is more highly toxic to human tissues than food cooked by normal heating. The food is damaged. Further, the microwave works by exciting water molecules in the food, which heat up by friction. This process continues for some while after the food is removed from the microwave, and the heating can extend right into your stomach tissues.
In an unpublished European study, the blood profile after eating micro-waved food was the same as for a person with an advanced stage of cancer. At the least, let food cool after it comes out of the microwave. Even better, you can turn your microwave oven into a bread box! Toaster ovens and convection ovens are better alternatives.
OTHER HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS
Electro-Magnetic Fields
115. Regular long term exposure to electro-magnetic fields (EMF) can be very harmful. Those whose homes are very near high power lines and family members who sleep near the point of attachment of utility lines to the house have had more than the usual amount of health problems.
Cell phones, wi-fi, smart meters and the new 5G, are progressively adding to the health and brain undermining frequencies that bombard us. Protection is a must.
Exercise
116. Exercise is a crucial aspect of staying healthy and fit. Your organs need it to be strong, and muscles need it to stay in tone and hold organs in place. Aerobic exercise should be engaged at least three times per week for 20 minutes or more. This is exercise which is vigorous enough to move the heart rate into the aerobic zone according to this formula: (220 - your age) X 75% to 80%. Maintain this level for the 20+ minutes with a few minutes of warm-up and a few minutes of slowing cool-down so blood is distributed evenly.
Additionally, weight-bearing, stretching and isometric exercises are needed to strengthen and tone muscles. Perhaps the best exercise for multiple benefits is rebounding on a miniature trampoline. For many years, astronauts and Olympic and professional athletes have used this powerful way to combine aerobic and muscle and bone building exercise.
Household Products
Most cleaning products and personal care products contain toxifying ingredients. Sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate, and propylene glycol are found in shampoos, conditioners, hand and body cleansers. These or worse chemicals are in household cleaners. Alternative toxin-free personal care and cleaning products are available.
Holistic Physician
117-118. The information in this report is not a substitute for consulting a qualified health care practitioner. The reader is advised to make use of this information judiciously on their own responsibility.
It would be prudent to consult with your health care practitioner before altering any health or medical protocol. This is especially true if you are under regular care and/or taking medication.
Many doctors are unfamiliar with or critical of natural health concepts. You may want to find a physician who is at least open to good nutrition and exercise as an important part of restoring health. Gradually, more doctors are adopting a holistic approach that includes good diet, nutrients, herbs and exercise.
NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTS
Vitamins
119,123. Despite what many believe, there is a difference between natural and synthetic vitamins. Natural ones are as found in foods, within the context of a variety of complementary nutrients which are instrumental in activating the full functions and benefits of the vitamin.
A synthetic vitamin is a lab-created copy of the chemical structure of the vitamin. Some so-called "natural" vitamins are actually separated out from a natural source by a lab process that isolates the vitamin from its natural community of synergistic factors. The synthetic or isolated vitamins cannot perform all the functions that vitamins in their natural context can do, nor do they have the vitality, the life force, of the truly natural ones.
In a study by Royal Lee, a pioneer of the nutritional supplement field back in the 1930's and 40's, piglets fed synthetic B-vitamins (the kind that have been added to white flour since the late 1930's) in addition to a regular diet of grain, suffered grave deficiency-related side effects as compared to those who instead had fresh greens with their grains.
The best that can be done with a "multivitamin" that is able to have a verified RDA profile on its label is to set the vitamins in a substantial base of super foods to provide as many of the important natural co-factors as possible.
Similarly, for the body to properly utilize minerals they must be in "chelated" or ionic sub-colloidal form. A mineral particle must be small enough in size to enter a cell or attached to a food molecule that the cell can recognize as food.
Chelated means bonded. A mineral in a plant is naturally bonded within compounds in the plant's cells. A laboratory chelated mineral is joined with a food molecule, ideally an amino acid, so it is identified and treated by the body as if it were from a food source.
Inorganic minerals as found in the earth are not chelated nor small enough in particle size for the body to use, although a huge amount of them are sold as nutritional supplements.
In recent years there has been much promotion of "colloidal" minerals. Colloids are small mineral particles, but still not small enough to cross cell membranes. "Sub-colloidal" ionic minerals (with a charge on them) or minerals chelated within a food molecule, are what we need for absorption and utilization.
Look for a truly natural source or "food source" multiple vitamin supplement with chelated major minerals, ionic trace minerals, and a wealth of super foods.
Antioxidants
120. It is wise to have regular daily supplementation with Vitamin C that has an equal amount of bioflavonoids from fruit sources, such as rutin and hesperidin. 500 mg. of C plus 500 mg of bioflavonoids is fine, with more to be taken throughout the day when stressed or when cold or flu symptoms arise.
121. The commercial health product trade focuses on the d-alpha tocopherol fraction of the Vitamin E complex in stating the International Units (eg. 400 IU). It is best to have the whole E-complex that includes the gamma and beta tocopherols.
Wheat germ and its oil are the best sources of natural Vitamin E complex, but they must be fresh and free of rancidity. Never accept dl-alpha tocopheral. The "dl" indicates a synthetic form that is not compatible with the body.
122. Antioxidants are absolutely essential supplements in today's stressful and polluted world. Free radicals are damaging molecules missing an electron, which are in toxins and pollutants, and created by stress. The bombardment of these over time leads to damage of the heart, arteries and other tissues. Both circulatory diseases and cancer can result.
Antioxidants stem free radicals by giving them an electron. Some antioxidants also help repair damaged tissue with other aspects of their makeup and functions.
Besides Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Beta Carotene, antioxidants include: ellagic acid from red raspberries, which has proven very helpful with a variety of cancers; lignans from flax seeds, which have also been found to help with multiple cancers; OPC's (oligo proanthocyanidins) from grape seeds and maritime pine, which are at least 20 times more effective that C and E; tocotrienols, from rice bran, which are hundreds of times more effective than C and E, and negative ion hydrogen, which is thousands of times more effective than C or E.
Minerals
124. For the body to properly utilize minerals they must be in "chelated" or ionic sub-colloidal form. The forms of calcium commonly used in supplements are calcium carbonate, dolomite, di-calcium phosphate and tri-calcium phosphate.
Calcium carbonate is basically chalk, like that used on a blackboard. It is ground rock. "Dolomite" is just ground limestone, and is made up of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate. Di- and tri-calcium phosphate are inorganic calcium compounds, also from rock. None of these are absorbed or assimilated well at all, and may contribute to deposits in the body.
The best lab-chelated forms of calcium are calcium aspartate (bonded with an amino acid), calcium citrate (as found in citrus fruits) and calcium lactate (the type found in milk). Calcium gluconate is not as good as the others, but is better than the rock forms. The naturally-chelated calciums found in vegetation, such as broccoli, carrots, and sesame seeds; or in super food supplements such as green cereal grasses, algae, pollen and fulvic-acid rich ancient plant deposits, are the very best sources.
125. The forms of magnesium commonly used in supplements are magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate; both are poorly absorbed.
Green vegetables are good foods for magnesium. Green super foods, namely cereal grasses and algae, are the best supplemental sources of magnesium. The acceptable lab-chelated form of magnesium is bonded with an amino acid, such as aspartic acid (magnesium aspartate).
126. Ionic trace minerals are a very valuable addition to your daily supplement intake. The food supply is grossly deficient in minerals, especially the trace minerals which were leached out of most agricultural soils years ago without being replaced.
Inorganic minerals as found in the earth are not normally chelated nor small enough in particle size for the body to use.
In recent years there has been much promotion of "colloidal" minerals. Colloids are small mineral particles, but still not small enough to cross cell membranes. "Sub-colloidal" ionic minerals (with a charge on them), or minerals chelated with a food molecule, are what we need.
Super foods like cereal grasses, algae, kelp, pollen, and fulvic-acid rich ancient plant material, are the best sources of ionic trace minerals.
Super Foods
127. Super foods are organically-grown and wild plant foods that are concentrated in nutrients, including "phytonutrients", protective plant compounds.
In supplemental form, if these are properly dehydrated to preserve their enzymes and pigments (eg. chlorophyll and carotenes), they provide essential factors missing from the diet that can significantly improve health and wellness.
Examples include: green cereal grass juices, such as wheat grass juice and barley grass juice, fresh sprouts, including alfalfa sprouts and bean sprouts, edible algae like spirulina, dunaliella and kelp, milled flax seed, wheat germ (the most nutritious part of the wheat grain), dehydrated vegetable and fruit juices, flower pollen extract, and fulvic acid and mineral rich ancient plant materials.
Herbs
128. Herbs are edible plants that contain unique compounds which provide special benefits to the body. They can help to cleanse or move an organ or system toward a healthier state. Most herbs should be used for a specific purpose temporarily, but some, such as kelp and dandelion, are in the realm of super foods that can be consumed regularly.
Enzymes
129. If you eat cooked foods, your body really needs supplemental enzymes to assist in digestion. Most health problems begin in the digestive tract from the spoilage of poorly digested food materials and the resulting accumulation of toxic waste deposits. The toxins from spoiled protein in particular can have serious consequences.
Maximizing the digestion of foods reduces spoiling and delivers more needed nutrition to the cells. This is a giant step in health improvement.
It is very important to take a multiple enzyme supplement at each meal containing any cooked food. Cooking destroys any enzymes that may have been in the food that could help its own digestion. Proper digestion of protein at the right time is crucial in particular.
There are specific amino acids that need to be extracted from foods in the stomach phase of digestion to be used in forming neurotransmitters for brain and nerve function. Taking enzymes helps this to happen as it should.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids
130. One of the greatest nutritional deficiencies in modern society is in Omega 3 fatty acids. The "essential" one is Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA). The body can make the other Omega 3 fatty acids from ALA. The normal good diet provides an abundance of Omega 6 fatty acids, but little Omega 3.
Omega 3 deficiency causes one to feel stress more acutely, and to be less clear of mind and memory.
Certain species of fish -- salmon, cod, mackeral, herring and sardines, provide the secondary Omega 3 fats, EPA and DHA. However, most fish today are high in toxic pollutants.
The best source for ALA, the primary Omega 3 fatty acid, is milled organic flax seed from the far north in Saskatchewan, Canada. The extremely cold weather there produces flax with the highest level of Omega 3 (ALA) oil, and that area is one of few that is free of the toxic metal cadmium in the soil. This is important as flax draws up minerals well -- a benefit when they are nutritional, but we do not want cadmium. Virtually all U.S. flax is too high in cadmium.
SPECIAL CONCERNS
Cancer
The incidence of cancer has grown dramatically in recent years. The greater amount of chemicals and electromagnetic radiation in our environment are factors, as well as the generally toxifiying and acidifying nature of the common diet.
Extra oxygen makes it difficult for cancer to exist. Taking enzymes with meals insures more complete digestion and a reduction in the formation of toxins.
Enzymes taken apart from food can help to fight cancer, particularly protease (for digesting protein) when there is a tumor involved. Also Cellulase improves the body's processes and help move nutrients and wastes across membranes, enhancing action of other enzymes.
Cat's claw, chaparral larrea and pau d'arco are appreciated for their assistance for the immune system, with a history of use for tumors.
Noni, a Polynesian fruit, has been used beneficially by natives of Tahiti and other south Pacific islands in a variety of cancer situations over the centuries.
DHEA, a master hormone that diminishes with age, also boosts the immune system and the cancer-fighting resources of the body.
Cleanse the liver first; start with a "Gall Bladder Flush" (see the description near the end of this report). Then herbs like milk thistle, beets dandelion, yellow dock, burdock and Pau D'Arco. Burdock can be taken for several weeks. Proceed slowly if the liver is saturated with toxins. The liver helps clean the blood, so as it improves, so will the blood.
The urinary system can be stressed in the cleansing process. Horsetail, parsley and uva ursi are good for urinary support.
Other suggestions: Avoid animal proteins, especially pork, chicken & beef, cheese and eggs; tobacco, coffee, alcohol; foods with sugar, eg. sweets & fruits; peanuts; mushrooms; refined and processed foods; and any food that has been micro-waved in preparation. Drink only purified water (no chlorine). Avoid electro-magnetic fields, fumes and stress.
Consume fresh vegetables and vegetable juices, especially beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chard, collard greens, kale, parsley, spinach, etc. Eat organically grown foods if possible. ALSO: green super foods, (i.e. algae & cereal grasses), natural Beta-Carotene from algae, chlorophyll, flower pollen extract, foods rich in Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids (eg. flax seed), mangoes, Pau D’Arco (Taheebo) Tea, "Essiac" Tea (Burdock root, Sheep Sorrel, Turkey Rhubarb root, Slippery Elm bark), Red Clover, Suma, Cat's Claw, Shark Cartilage for tumors, Super Oxide Dismutase, Co-enzyme Q10; and full-spectrum, food-source nutritional supplementation including cobalt, selenium & other trace minerals, extra Vitamin C & bioflavonoids.
Oxygen therapies: (CAUTION--TOO MUCH COULD HARM) hydrogen peroxide, ozone, high molecular oxygen air purifier, chlorine dioxide/ sodium chlorite (liquid stabilized oxygen - safest).
Yeast Overgrowth
Yeast, a form of fungus, is a natural parasitic inhabitant of the human digestive system. Candida Albicans is the most common variety present. It is no problem when kept to a low level.
Beneficial bacteria are the natural limiters of the presence of yeast, and of various harmful bacteria. These good bacteria are diminished due to conditions toxic to them, such as excess bowel toxins, antibiotics (whether from medical use or the residues left in meats & dairy products from use in commercial livestock), alcohol, chlorine from tap water, preservatives and other chemical additives in food products, pesticides on produce, etc. As the friendly bacteria are lessened, Candida Yeast, which is not effected by antibiotics and chemicals, exploits the opportunity to multiply and take over territory.
Yeast is particularly stimulated when fed by sugars. It thrives on all forms of sugar from candy, pastries, ice cream, bread, alcohol, etc., and also on the lactose sugar in milk and dairy products.
As yeast grows, it can gradually reach a point where it begins to create health nuisance problems, such as gas and bloating in the digestive tract, constipation and/or diarrhea, susceptibility to colds and infections, sinus problems, allergies, skin problems, hormonal imbalances, fatigue, blood sugar problems, tension, anxiety, nervousness, confusion, poor memory, poor concentration, on and on. It is amazing, the number of health problems that can be yeast-related. No one has them all. Usually a person with a yeast overgrowth will have several indicators.
If left to continue, problems can become more serious; many reach a point where they are unable to function well in their life duties. In the long term the immune system is stressed by this condition, leaving one susceptible to debilitating or life-threatening disease states. Candida Yeast overgrowth is not recognized by most doctors because they were not taught to know much about it. A few progressive doctors have focused on it, but the medical treatments are not completely effective.
The main effort needs to be made in the dietary area, with avoidance of sugar-containing foods, milk, dairy products, white flour products, malt products, sweet fruits, syrups, etc.; as well as yeasted products like bread, beer and wine; and molded foods like cheese and vinegar. Heavy carbohydrate foods (breads, grains, pastas, potatoes, etc.), which break down to sugars in digestion, should be lessened in general for the period of regaining control of the yeast.
Moldy and mildewed environments must also be avoided. Even though the strains of yeasts and molds in foods and the environment are different ones from Candida, they can incite an allergic cross-reaction with the Candida yeast in the body.
Good supplements for eliminating yeast include: grapefruit seed extract, capryllic acid, monolaurin & other short-chain fatty acids, the enzyme protease, chaparral herb (larrea tridentata), the South American herbal, Pau D'Arco, the Morinda fruit, a.k.a. "Noni", and oxygen supplementation.
Also essential is the restoration of strong beneficial, probiotic intestinal bacteria, especially L. Salivarius, to chase and keep out excess yeast. Extra amounts of ionic or chelated magnesium are often needed, as yeast depletes magnesium.
This is a very important health issue. It is widely overlooked, but involved in many of the health problems people have, including serious ones like chronic fatigue, MS, lupus, Crohn's, cancer and A.I.D.S. To take care of Candida is a major step toward restoration of good health.
Food Suggestions
If you typically try to live on animal proteins (meat, milk, cheese, eggs); white flour products (bread, pasta, pastries, pretzels); ice cream, candy, chips, soda pop and other junk foods; the occasional salad or cooked vegetable will not redeem the results of the rest of the imbalanced diet.
Fresh vegetables are the best choice (except for iceberg lettuce which is the most chemicalized, least nutritious lettuce). The quality of the vegetables is important.
Organically-grown foods have far higher nutrient value and no chemical residues. Can you learn to prepare good natural foods meals, centering on lots of fresh salads using Romaine or Leaf lettuce? In season, try to get produce from local organic gardens and farms. It is easy to cook quinoa, buckwheat and other seeds and whole grains, like brown rice. Baking potatoes, yams and squash is simple. Visit a good health food store for other ideas.
Suggested Supplements
Enzymes for improved digestion; a variety of super foods (eg., cereal grasses, algae & pollen), and high quality natural vitamins and minerals for improved nutrition; the beneficial bacteria L. Salivarius and L. Plantarum; plus various herbs and specialty nutrients: colon-cleansing herbs (eg. cascara sagrada); blood-purifying herbs (eg. yellow dock and Pau D'arco); fulvic acid and minerals for vitality and immune support; OPC's for improved microcirculation and reduced inflammation; oxygen supplementation for reducing microorganisms and improved energy metabolism; tocotrienols for building and protecting all tissues, including the liver and the nervous system; protease enzyme for eliminating microorganisms; capryllic acid, monolaurin and grapefruit seed extract for reducing Candida yeast; lipase enzyme, Garcinia cambogia and Gymnema sylvestre for weight control; valerian root, magnesium and melatonin for relaxing tension and improved sleep.
NOTE: You cannot have a deficiency of a synthetic chemical drug. Such medicine should be used only for a very special need as specified by a qualified physician.
Gall Bladder Flush
Start by picking a day when you don't have to go anywhere the following day. Take a substantial amount of magnesium in the afternoon. Over the course of two hours in the evening sip down a total of one pint of extra virgin olive oil (preferably organically-grown) and the fresh juice of one or two lemons.
After consuming this, go to bed and lie on your right side with your right leg drawn up toward your chest, until you fall asleep. In the night or the next day you'll have a substantial bowel movement, and there will likely be a number of yellowish-green small marble like balls in the stool. These are gall stones, made up mostly of cholesterol with a small amount of minerals.
This flush will help your gall bladder function better, improving your fat metabolism and making weight control easier. This is also a good start on cleansing the liver and blood. It would be a good thing to follow this a month of herbal liver detoxification, taking 3 capsules each per day of yellow dock, burdock and red clover herbs.
SUMMARY
Even though major health problems may have been slight, to continue following conventional lifestyle routines could produce some very unpleasant circumstances in the future. It is essential to adapt to eating natural foods, regular good exercise, minimizing stress, good sleep, and to avoiding the consumption of sugar foods and other junk foods. Four pints or more of purified water should be consumed per day. Avoiding toxifying personal care and household products, and incorporating supplementation of your diet with needed nutrients and helpful herbs can complete a strategy for a healthier pathway for you in the years to come.
